Autonomous Robotic Assembly
The future of construction
This project is part of an early research project about the autonomous robotic construction using low-cost machine vision systems at the Bartlett School of Architecture (UCL). Investigating The Autonomous Assembly of pre-design un-modular unique structure on the construction site. Using visual-marker based recognition and single webcam the system was able to autonomously establish rapid local references frame, grasp and assemble building components.
A Mobile application was developed enables remote control of the Robot and the process wirelessly. The system was able to successfully assembly several complex designs in realtime.
By Creating a Vision App using Unity(C#) and Grasshopper plugin (VISION), we were able to create a low-cost robotic vision system able to efficiently recognize any arbitrary shape using image markers.
