This project investigates a bottom-up tessellation approach using agents swarming on a surface’s uv space and creating Planar panels based on tangent plane intersection.

Unlike the traditional knowledge-based design system approaches of segmenting a surfaces like PHex, PQuad meshes. This polygonal system synthesizes the principles of Tangent plane intersection (TPI); planar subdivision treating, (ABM) offering a behavioural bottom up approach of developing complex surfaces through the emergence, the interaction between the agent’s cells and their surrounding environment by em- bedding the morphological features and significant behaviors.

This project is based on an ongoing research at the ICD institute, University of Stuttgart, Germany. Investigates the development of an Agent- based Modeling (ABM) as an integrative design system for polygonal surface structures.
